Mouse Hunt, Skylanders, and other fun things

I've been practicing my digital painting skills on my iPad
The other night I went for a meet up with some of the local people who play and work on my fave Facebook game Mousehunt. It was a grand evening filled with fun discussion and good people, and food. Of course it took place at one of those restaurants that puts paper on the table and crayons within easy reach which of course means scribbling ensues. Despite the crayons I opted to use one of my all time favorite mediums to work in; cheap ballpoint pen.

And more scribblin
The other thing I have been doing lately is playing Skylanders, which has some very fun character designs. This naturally means that I want to draw them. I've been using them as warmups/ digital paint practice.

I've also discovered that Sketchbook Pro will create Timelapse movies of a drawing if I want, and I figured I post one of those too. I'd like to be able to add music to it but at the moment I'm fighting with a couple programs to get that to work right, and Udate is more important that a few nice tweaks..

Draw like an Egyptian.

Or should that Draw someone dressed like an Egyptian?... Of course I refer to the fact that last week's Toons on Tap had burlesque dancer Coco Framboise dressed as Queen Cleopatra. Here are my compiled life drawings from the session.

And speaking of Toons on Tap. This month is Marvel Month at ToT and I am very much looking forward to it. Here is a look at the flyer that Laurie and Jeremy Made for the events

And to finish up I leave you with some random character sketches I have done.

I have no real Title idea and that's ok.

A quick Magneto sketch done on my iPad
It's Monday therefore I'm going  to update and post some of my sketches from the week.

Some scribble of a character I have been posting the comic of on Tumblr

a Tattoo design for my friend Rich Known As Jack and sketches
As you may have seen (from pic above) I have been posting a fantasy themed comic on My Tumblr , I mention this because it seemed like a good way to sneak a link to it in should anyone be interested. I'm also posting it on my deviantart account.

Also This week is a Toons on Tap week (Tomorrow night at the Rhyno on Queen st) and the theme is Cleopatra which means next week I'll be posting my drawings from it.

So yeah that's about it from me for this week. Have a good one!

Ghosts and Guardians

Last Tuesday was Toons on Tap, and  the theme was Beetlejuice. It was a fantastic night with a pact house of audience members. The Models Dave and Patricia were very expressive, and playful. It may have been my favorite session to date, and that is saying a lot as Toons on Tap is always a fun event.
Beetlejuice and Lydia sketches from Toons on Tap

Also Last week Rise of the Guardians came out on DVD. I enjoyed it quite a lot. The Animation was top notch, perhaps some of Dream Works best, the characters were fun and likeable and the all star cast of voices did a fantastic job of bringing them to life. (Alec Baldwin as a sword wielding Russian  Santa? Who knew that would be as awesome as it was?)
Because Hugh Jackman was Buny's Voice

Post Toronto Comic con

Hey all, I was at comic con on the weekend selling comics and hanging out with all the awesome people in the Artist Alley. Behind me was the artist for my Fave Facebook game Mousehunt; Jacob Johnson and his girlfriend Sarah who is also an awesome artist in her own right. Other people of note were Leslie Doyle who has some AWESOME skills in the digital paint dept, her photo real Picard print is AMAZING. And so many indie comic creators like Aaron from Dave's Wurld and of course my friends from Romantically Apocalyptic.

Tomorrow is Toons On Tap at the Rhino, if you are like me and want to grab some extra costumed life drawing.. The theme for the week will be Beetlejuice. It's going to be a lot of fun. With that I leave you with some of my random scribbles from the weekend.

I'm Back... Again

Ok this seems to happen to me a lot, where I forget to update things. It's a bad habit; one that I need to stop. But New art sketches and the such. Last weekend the Life drawing thing I do; Toons on Tap, put on a gallery showing of people's work and I had a piece in it. It was a good night. Speaking of Toons on Tap here are a couple of my fave drawings from the last couple sessions.

The Next Toons on Tap is March 12th at the Rhino Bar on Queen St. Also The organizers of  ToT are awesome artists in their own right. Here's a link to their blogs Laurie's Blog and Jeremy's Blog.

Also Con season has snuck up on me once again and the first Show of the year Hobby Star's Toronto Comic Con is coming up on Saturday and I have been working at having a new issue of Manifest Destiny ready for the show. I finished penciling the last two pages of the issue yesterday, it's inks and coloring for me today.... Huzzah! And because of that I leave you with some sketches of the MD Cast
